In Iconoclastic Aces you have the turn over during the off beat of the effect and in Double Deuce you have the cut during the off beat I am guessing this is the magicians guilt I hear so much about I did ask myself these questions and came up with my version of a answer with my lack of experience I thought it would be a good idea to ask the group so do you agree/disagree? how would you answer these questions?

how would you practice a trick that requires a off beat/misdirection without giving away the trick?

My Answer-just going to have to get caught a few times so practice enough till I feel comfortable with the effect then preform for a family member and ask if they saw anything funny during the trick

how do you get rid of guilt after move?

My Answer- walk around in public places doing turnovers and cuts (thank God I haven’t dropped the cards in a group of people yet I know its bound to happen)

I have a related question for Eddie or Jack – which is why the double undercut is often used by magicians when a single undercut would suffice to control the card?  Is the double undercut preferred because it looks more fair?

            Thanks.

Great question Leonard, With off beats you can feel them, and you also create them. This will be good to chat over on Saturday as a group!

Mark, it depends what you’re trying to achieve. The double undercut is a move typically used to move a few cards from the top to the bottom of the deck, which can’t be done with a single cut (unless you want to just cut 1 card to the bottom).  – If you’re using it to bring the centre up to the top (another valid option) we would do a double cut rather than a single as a single will feel exactly like what it is, cutting the middle to the top. So in many cases its not to feel more fair, but to feel less like a control. I’ll post a video below discussing it a little.
