ParticipantThis may sound odd, but I consistently find it much easier to perform card controls (e.g. control cards to top and bottom with overhand shuffles) in the morning than the evening! For some reason, I have trouble gripping the cards in the evening. In the morning, I have no trouble using touch to control the cards. It seems unrelated to washing my hands – which I do before I touch the cards every time in any case. Has anyone noticed this? Is it a well known phenomenon or am I being a bit odd?! Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there something card magicians use to “prep” their hands before a performance? A hand gel, moisturizer, etc..? Thanks!

ParticipantHi Mark
I’ve been using a slight touch of O’Keefe’s Working Hands hand cream which seems to work for me.
My hands used to be reasonably ok however I find I need to use hand cream these days.
Cheers
Andrew

ParticipantThanks Andrew. I’ll try some of that! My hands probably dry out during the day – and the frequent hand-washing/hand sanitizer likely doesn’t help – along with the colder weather.
